Jeep Adventure
Adventure enthusiasts, pack your camera bag and some extra layers to view the wonders of fall in La Plata Canyon. Discover the wild beauty of one of Durango’s most rugged and remote landscapes.
La Plata Canyon offers a stunning entrance into the San Juan Mountains, where ancient glaciers sculpted a landscape teeming with aspen groves, alpine meadows, and thriving ecosystems. Steeped in mining history, the canyon’s name, "La Plata," is Spanish for silver. The canyon road traces the path of the La Plata River before giving way to rougher trails ideal for 4×4 adventures. Knowledgeable guides will provide engaging commentary while driving open-air vehicles that allow photographers to fully immerse themselves in the outdoors and during photo stops.
There will be two sessions:
- Thursday morning, Oct 2, 7 am - 11 am with Speaker Wayne Suggs
- Sunday evening, Oct 5, 4 pm - 8 pm with Speaker Ian Plant
